Today I went to the " Christ Church" near the Jaffa Gate. It is a great church, with good hymn
worship, good Angelical worship procedure and good sermon. It is a Messianic church, so it
is Jewish culture sensitive too. i.e. Some of the songs are Hebrew songs. “Jesus Christ” is
called “Jesus Messiah”.
There is Communion time. When I received the bread, the elder told me it was the “broken
body of Christ”, I just could not help bursting into tears. It is because Jesus’ death place was
so close to us. Jesus’ passion has never been so geographically close to me in Communion
time. I thought of my sin, I thought of the son of God becoming flesh and all the pains he
undertook. The love of God overwhelmed me.
I also like the time of praying. A lady led us to pray for the present situation of Gaza ,
Bethlehem , the whole Israel and the world. After worship a lady sold some wooden art made
by a Bethlehem handicapped Christian. I am so glad that I have chance to help him.
Actually I was quite sad yesterday in Bethlehem . When I saw the Palestine people there, I
wonder if they have chance to believe in Jesus or not. They know how to earn money from
the Christian tourists. But do they know how to receive the free but precious salvation?
Christian Pilgrims from all the world and even we JUC students are so interested in the Holy
“ Land ” . We pay a lot to learn about the Holy Land . But do we concern about the people on
the Holy Land now? We learn deeper about the Holy Land , but does it do any good to these
Muslim people? They still die without knowing Messiah! Knowledge cannot save the world.
To certain extent, seminary cannot save the world, but church does! When I heard that this
Christ Church was a church for Jews, when I heard that they have ministry in Bethlehem ,
when I heard that they prayed for Israel and the world, I found hope.
Yes, the Church is the hope of the world.
